Hogryder, I am an active duty Marine Officer who has spent many moons at "the Stumps." Mostly, I've been out in the desert training, but I also spent a little time "mainside" at the base. Never been stationed there, but tried like hell to get there on my last reassignment. Anyway, I think it's one of the most beatiful places in America (kind of harsh though). The general consensus in the Marine Corps is that it's a nice place to live, but you wouldn't want to visit there.... (When we "visit" the conditions are usually kind of spartan) I don't know much about the civilian side of life out there, but check out the link below. I think it has some community info stuff on it. If you want, we can exchange e-mails and calls and stuff- I've got some buddies out ther who can probably get more info.
